What my mornings look like as an online teacher

Coffee, a short walk and lesson prep before my first student logs in. A small look at an ordinary day. 아침에 일어나서 커피를 마셔요

People often ask me what a day looks like when you teach Korean online. The honest answer: it starts slowly, and that’s on purpose.

Coffee first

I make a hand-drip coffee and sit by the window for ten minutes. No phone. In Korean we’d say I’m having my 여유, a little moment of ease.

A walk around the block

Even a short walk wakes me up. I say good morning to the owner of the corner shop:

안녕하세요, 오늘 날씨 좋네요. Hello, the weather is nice today.

Lesson prep

Before the first lesson I read through my notes for each student: the words we practised last time, the mistakes we want to fix, and something fun to talk about. A good lesson often starts with “what did you do this weekend?”
